Safainaiko beach (Σαρακήνικο)

the same road from Vathy as Filiatro but at the junction turn right and the beach is very soon after that

East coast

11 minutes driving from Vathy

Not much shade for parking on the road

Beach split into two, facing the sea from the road, a tiny little bay - fishing - then walk to the right and climb over rocks to the beach.

Some rocks to lie flat on

To get to the beach/bay - some agility needed, not for the infirm

No shade little bay/ either side

Blue turquoise

Lovely swimming both sides

Reports of bad wasps but not noticeable

No facilities actual beach but in taverna where parking - a toilet etc

Don't get confused with Piso Aetos which is just across the way on the west coast and is where the ferries arrive

No facilities - someone has put 4 umbrellas and now a small canteen stand across the road (coming from Vathy opposite the furthest third of the beach)

Huge bay. - dividing into thirds and three sets of steps down from the road, this visit to the furthest third from Vathi (Βαθι)

I would have said you couldn't bike this from Vathy but a Swedish couple on electric bikes did it with no visible effort from Stavros (Σταυρόσ) so what do I know!?!?!

Approx 12 mins untimed - no signs to it, if driving from Vathy, pass Dexa and over another hill/bend and then this stretches in front of you
